The Animals Diary

Explore The Wild, Understand The World

  • When an entire species becomes extinct in the process of evolution, it is referred to as extinction. It means the whole population of a particular animal disappears from existence. It is estimated that over 5 billion species that once roamed the Earth are now extinct. Once extinct, the genetic makeup of the animal is lost. It may evolve into a whole other species in order to adapt. Extinction takes place because of asteroid attacks, loss of habitat, pollution, sickness, climate change, and humans.
