The Animals Diary

Explore The Wild, Understand The World

When an entire species becomes extinct in the process of evolution, it is referred to as extinction. It means the whole population of a particular animal disappears from existence. It is estimated that over 5 billion species that once roamed the Earth are now extinct. Once extinct, the genetic makeup of the animal is lost. It may evolve into a whole other species in order to adapt. Extinction takes place because of asteroid attacks, loss of habitat, pollution, sickness, climate change, and humans.
